The Birth Control Pill Is Also Called An Oral Contraceptive.

There are over 40 different brands of birth control pills. Some only contain a chemical called progestogen. Some are combination pills that contain both progestogen (which is a steroid hormone), and estrogen (a hormone).

-The Pill Is Designed To Work In Three Ways-

  1. Prevent implantation of the child in the uterus.  It does this by changing the lining of the uterus, making it thinner and more slippery.
  2. Prevent ovulation.
  3. Increase cervical mucus in order to inhibit the sperm from reaching the egg.

This can be verified by the PDR (Physicians Desk Reference) which lists every pill that is manufactured, and the way in which it works. In Canada, it is called CPS (Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties).

  • Research shows that 8% of the time, all three mechanisms fail, and a child is implanted in the womb resulting in ongoing pregnancy.
